Swiss Watching is back on tour!

Spring has sprung, the bears are out and the chocolate fest (aka Easter) is on its way. All that means one thing: Swiss Watching is hitting the road again. And I must confess that I am looking forward to it. Before this book was published, I never thought I would enjoy standing up in front of a room full of strangers and speaking, let alone answering questions and making people laugh. I hadn’t even considered that being part of becoming an author. A book launch, yes, but 17 events across Switzerland? Not at all. Luckily, I discovered that it’s fun!

Now the first public events of 2011 are around the corner. I’ve warmed up by speaking at a book group and a university, so I’m ready for next Wednesday (23 March). First up is Stocker bookshop in Lucerne for a reading and signing at 2pm, organised by Lucerne4You: more details here. Then it’s over to Zug for a talk, with Q&A and an apéro, at 7pm in the city library, thanks to those lovely people at Zug4You – details here. Both are free, but reservations are advised.

A short break for some chocolate, and then I’m off to Romandie for ‘Living in the Land of Milk and Money’, a presentation on Tuesday 17 May hosted by Léman Events and Swiss Tourism. It’s being held at Brillantmont School in Lausanne at 6.30pm – for more information and tickets, click here. The next day I’ll be in Basel to speak at Thalia Buchhandlung, starting at 7.30pm and followed by an apéro: tickets can be booked here.

In between all those, I’ll be at the Expat Expo fairs on 10th April and 22 May. If you’ve never been to one, then why not come along – they’re free, and not just for expats, despite the name. Essentially they are anything and everything to do with English-speakers in Switzerland: theatre groups, doctors, lawyers, day care, courses, schools, and food, both homemade (excellent bagels) and imported from Britain (the best place to buy Golden Syrup). And of course, books – Swiss Watching will be there along with The Bears are Coming Back, a delightful children’s book about the bears of Bern, written and illustrated by my friend Vicki.
