Happy Swiss Christmas!

Wishing you all a merry Christmas, wherever in the world you are. I took this photo during the extraordinarily cold weather we had in February this year, when it was more Siberia than Switzerland. Seriously cold at -35c!
Other than that memorable weather, it’s been quite a year to remember – for me at least. Der Schweizversteher, the German edition of Swiss Watching was published in March and reached No4 in the Swiss bestseller list; then the 2nd edition of Swiss Watching came in April; and of course my second book, Swisscellany: facts & figures about Switzerland, was published in July. Three books in one year is something I hadn’t planned. Next year I will only manage two – the French edition of Swiss Watching in May and book three, about the first conducted tour of Switzerland, in the autumn.
Not forgetting that I was back in London for a few weeks this summer, enjoying being part of the team at the House of Switzerland. 250,000 visitors in 24 days, which made it hectic, fun, interesting and exhausting. I gave presentations, made speeches, signed books and answered questions – my favourite being, why does Switzerland have seven Presidents? My answer: one for each day of the week.
So here’s to 2013. Let’s hope it’s another year to remember.
Happy New Year!
